Hi,
I'm sharing this rigging workflow from my character creation course, where we will learn to rig a character rigging using Rigify.
You can check out the videos on My YouTube channel:
But why rigify?
It is blender's default addon ( need to enable from preferences ). It comes with advance rig system such as switchable IK/FK, stretchable arms/legs and so on, which would have take so much time to create manually. We can also make a custom rig with extra features like hair, clothing, accessories with proper RIG UI, and we gonna covered all that in this series. As mentioned, it is a full series on character rigging so there will be a lot of parts with well structured videos and each parts will covered specific topic,
So we will go step by step process:
1. Setting up, Rigify's base bone structure
2. Adding extra bones for hair, clothing and accessories
3. Adding extra bones to new bone layers and creating custom rig UI
4. Generating rig, assigning color sets to new controllers
5. Assigning extra controllers to custom UI
6. Fixing newly generated rig.
7. Weight painting the base ( include timelapse )
8. Transfer weight from base to other mesh to speed up the process
This is just a one chapter from my course, If you wish to learn full character creation, it will be available soon.
NOTE: I'm not a professional rigger nor I'm saying this is the correct way to rig a character. This is just a way i do which works for me. If you really wish to learn rigging, there are some course, specific for the rigging which guide through basic to advance level rigging.
